Our woods
At Sunset Woodworks, we work with a wide variety of domestic and exotic hardwoods — each one with its own personality, grain, color, and character. Part of what makes every piece unique is the wood it's made from.
Walnut · Oak · Maple · Cherry · Cedar · Hickory · Aspen · Sapele · Padauk · Tigerwood · Yellowheart · Purpleheart · Bloodwood · Red Zebrawood · Jatoba · Wenge · and more
Wood selection depends on the project, and we often incorporate accent colors from woods specifically curated for their complementary grain and color — which means no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
If you have a wood preference for your order, we'd love to talk about it. Availability varies, and we're always happy to help you find the perfect match for your piece.

The maker behind the wood
Hi, I'm the heart of Sunset Woodworks
"Retired teacher. Lifelong maker. Terrible at sitting still."
"I've been crafting since the 70s — back when macramé was a personality and decoupage was a food group. The projects grew over the years until I found myself remodeling my entire house. Walls, decks, floors — if it could be built, I built it."
"After a long career teaching speech and debate, I retired and traded the podium for the workshop. My students learned to make their case with words — I make mine with wood. These days instead of lesson plans, I make beautiful, useful things by hand and I love every minute of it."
"Stop by one of my craft fair booths and see for yourself!"
